I would be checking Google to see if I could find a way to down load entire websites and save them.

Internet Expiration Date
by cameo-d inif you had advance notice that the internet would come to an end, a total end, in a short time from now....would you change any of your internet habits?
are there any subjects in particular you would want to explore before it goes down?
maybe instructions on a diy project?

Question: How, exactly, does philosophy underpin science?
by bohm ini have seen the statement in the title thrown around a few times (bts, i think looking at you), and i thought i would throw out the question and see what happened.
i properly need to a few definitions: science will here be defined as both physics and mathematics which in turn is defined as: .
physics: stuff that happends in a laboratorie and stuff written about what happened or is expected to happend in nature.

A person's presuppositions will dictate how he approaches science.

Have your JW Relatives Explained about Generation/Overlap Change to You ?
by flipper inafter reading on the way out's thread about his mom explaining the generation overlap to him it kicked this idea into my head to make this thread .
i thought it would be helpful to see if anybody here has had jw relatives or friends try to explain this " generation overlap " theory to you as a faded or inactive witness and what happened in the conversations.
so please feel free to post your experiences.

You did ask though "if the composite sign of the parousia in 1914 is so obvious, why did it take the WTS 30 years to see it? and I'm sure that I cannot answer your question since it assumes facts not in evidence. On what is this "30 years to see it" part of your question based? Is this conjecture on your part or do you have facts to support this portion of your statement regarding this "30 years"? I'd be interested in seeing what you can provide in support.
The question assumes nothing. The first mention of Jesus’ invisible presence having occurred in 1914 was in 1943. Go check your library. I defy you to find a reference to a 1914 parousia prior to 1943. There was one reference in the late 20’s that kinda-sorta hinted at it. If the WTS has been honest and “consistant” about the 1914 date, there should be a multitude of references in this time period. Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can prove me to be a liar. If I am, it should be easy for you. Do you have the stones to face the possibility that I may be right?

Atheist believe there is no God? Yes we do, strongly!
by bohm inthere seem to have been a strong increase in entymological arguments lately, more precisely regarding the term atheist.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/198111/1/lets-settle-this-for-once-and-for-all-is-atheism-a-belief-a-non-belief-or-an-anti-belief.
i have reread the thread and i think i see where it goes very wrong.

Seven pages and you are still arguing over what "belief" is.

SERIOUS QUESTION: just how many demons will fit inside a person?
by Terry inare demons big or little?
do they take up space?.
do they infest our cells and peer out like they are trapped inside a jelly bean?.

Mad Dawg
Serious answer to the OP. The number of demons that will fit inside a person is equal to the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin. As they have no material substance, an unlimited number could occupy the same physical space. Hence, the number is ∞. Whether or not demons possess people today is another issue. It depends on whether one's eschatology is preterist or dispensationalist. I strongly lean towards preterism.

Jesus' presence occurred in 1914, not in 1874 as Russell stated, and the Watchtower consistency declares 1914 to be the year when Jesus' invisible presence began,
You are getting closer here. Russell and the Watchtower said that Jesus’ invisible presence began in 1874. In fact, the Watchtower continued with 1874 until it changed the date in 1943. The WTS has never retracted its statements about 1874. It simply waited 30 years and gave a new date. BTW, if the composite sign of the parousia in 1914 is so obvious, why did it take the WTS 30 years to see it?
If I were to stop any random JW and ask them “How do you know that the WTS is God’s sole channel?”, would they not respond, “Because they predicted Jesus’ presence in 1914”?

Good ole' Bohm, arguing in the shadows of hair splitting semantics. Essan, you will never get him to agree what the meaning of "is" is.

For the past 26 years, I have had a Pulsar dive watch which was made by Seiko. For all the punishment it has taken, it still runs flawlessly. I would love a Movado, I think they are beautiful. Thing is, I don't wear clothes that are formal enough for the watch to look "right" with. That thing the OP was bragging about is butt ugly.

Eggnog, Russel did not predict an invisible coming of Christ in 1914. You know it and I know it. Right? Presumably, if you and I know it, the WTS knows it today as well. Agree? If the WTS knows that Chuck did not predict the invisible coming of Christ in 1914, why don’t they correct this error among the R&F JW’s?
This matters for two reasons:
· The WTS uses words they put in Chuck’s mouth to give themselves legitamacy.
· If they can’t be trusted to tell the truth on such a basic level, how can we trust them with anything else?
